Get to Know Sage – Meet Deborah Clark

Where did you grow up…Tell us about your family?

I grew up on a farm with my parents and brother, Terry, in “lower Arkansas” also known as Junction City, AR. Our farm had horses, pigs, cows, chickens and three large gardens…as you can imagine, summers were very busy around our house!

I have been married to my husband, Mark, for 26 years. He teaches algebra and geometry for the Little Rock School District.

How long were you with Capital Properties before the merger and what does your job entail?

I’ve been with the Blass family for 17 years. Upon moving to Little Rock in 1992, I became interested in properties, buildings, etc. I applied for a job with Capital Properties as an assistant property manager. Brenda Pearce trained me (we still work together!). Now I’m a property manager and currently manage 11 buildings containing 992,000 square feet, ranging from retail, office and warehouse buildings.

What is your motivation..What drives you?

I like to do a good job because when I do it’s very rewarding. I really try to do my best each and every day, I put myself in my tenant’s shoes and treat them how I would want to be treated.

Deborah, how do you spend your time away from work?

My husband and I spend a lot of time with our niece and nephew. We also play with our dog named Roxie. She is a “dust mop dog” …looks like you could clean the floor with her. My husband is a cancer survivor and we are involved in cancer awareness programs.

Deborah’s desire to “do my best each and every day” as well as “putting myself in my tenant’s shoes” are characteristics that we all aspire to as well. If all of us at Sage work to the best of our abilities every day, we will ultimately satisfy our Mission Statement, ensuring company success and provide superior service to our employees, clients and families.

Did You Know?
Living on a farm, I was around horses and cows on a daily basis. I rode a bull calf when I was 12 years old and also was a pretty darn good barrel racer at the ages of 13 and 14. By the way, Deborah’s niece is Audra Dickson, a Property Coordinator in the Rogers office!
